Utah woman arrested for DUI after rollover crash

Local authorities recently responded to the scene of a car accident involving a single vehicle. The occupants of the SUV could not be readily located, but were apparently found a short time later. The Utah Highway Patrol took the driver into custody on suspicion of DUI.

According to preliminary reports, an SUV was traveling on Minersville Highway State Route 130 at approximately 3:15 a.m. when it left the roadway and crashed into a utility pole. The power pole broke in half when the SUV rolled into it. When sheriff's deputies arrived, it was initially believed that this was a fatal accident because the 21-year-old driver and her 38-year-old passenger were nowhere to be seen.

At approximately 3:40 a.m., the Utah Highway Patrol was called in to help locate them. It was determined that they had begun walking, and a good Samaritan picked them up and took them to a hospital in the area.  The passenger refused to be evaluated and/or treated. The driver was checked out my medical personnel before being turned over to authorities.

Before the driver can be officially charged with DUI, it will be necessary for prosecutors to review the evidence that allegedly supports the trooper's contention that the woman was impaired. This would be a good time for her to retain the services of counsel to be sure that her rights are protected throughout the investigation. In addition, her initial contact with police will need to be evaluated, along with any evidence gathered that might be presented by the prosecution in court.

  • Brian attended mediation with us today and he was a rockstar. He was very knowledgeable and thorough. I don't know what we would have done without his well-informed counsel and the way he stood up for us. He maintained a calm and authoritative demeanor, even in the presence of the 4 other attorneys on the other "sides". We will be recommending him to anyone who needs a family law attorney, and we'll be choosing him if we ever need one again! Read more...
