DUI, possession charges leveled against 2 women in Utah

Though multiple people may be arrested in connection with the same alleged incident, they may not want to follow the same criminal defense routes. This could prove especially true when one individual faces different allegations than another person. Because each specific case is different, parties charged with DUI may wish to take a different approach than someone facing other charges.

Two women may each want to consider their own personal wishes after their recent arrests in Utah. Apparently, a 36-year-old woman was driving a vehicle with a 23-year-old passenger when the vehicle was stopped by a police officer. Reportedly, the driver was speeding and failing to maintain the proper lane. The woman originally stated that she had been driving all night from out of state.

The report also stated that both women allegedly admitted to smoking methamphetamine while on the road. A K-9 unit was utilized and purportedly indicated that drugs may have been in the vehicle. Police conducted a search and reportedly discovered approximately 3 pounds of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The older woman is currently facing charges for DUI and other driving violations as well as possession and intent to distribute allegations. The passenger was charged with drug possession with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In order to better understand their particular charges, the women involved in this incident may wish to gain as much information as possible. Because even minor details can play a significant role in a criminal case, each woman may also want to assess the circumstances of the arrests and other aspects of the cases. Utilizing local Utah legal resources could help them better ensure that they obtain reliable information on the DUI and possession charges in order to make decisions about the coming court proceedings.
