Utah man facing DUI charge as a repeat offender after crash

On Behalf of | Jul 18, 2018 | DUI

Repeat drunk driving offenses can lead to an increase in punishment if an individual is convicted of charges. If a person does have multiple DUI arrests on his or her record, it may signal that the person has an alcohol abuse problem and needs help. Unfortunately, while looking to obtain that help, they may also have to contend with new allegations.

One man in Utah is currently facing such a predicament. Reports stated that the man had stopped at a liquor store, and as he was exiting the parking lot, he apparently did not stop before pulling on to the main roadway. As a result, his vehicle was hit by an oncoming car driven by a 16-year-old girl. The girl’s 12-year-old sister was a passenger in the vehicle.

The accident resulted in both girls suffering injuries. Authorities stated that the man’s blood alcohol concentration level was nearly three times the legal limit at .22 percent. It was also noted that the man has apparently been charged with DUI six times in the past. He was taken into custody, but the specific charges brought against him were not given in the report.

Repeat DUI charges are serious offenses that can be difficult to face. This situation may be the wake-up call this Utah man needs to get his possible alcohol problem under control. Of course, he will also want to defend against the current charges he faces, and gaining the right information regarding his legal options may help him move forward in the most effective manner possible.
