Facing the unknown and moving on is possible after divorce

The idea of making a significant change in life can be daunting. Many Utah residents may delay making such changes because they worry about the repercussions they will face and the unpredictability that comes along with leaving familiarity behind. As a result, some people put off filing for divorce because they think staying in an unhappy relationship that they know is better than stepping into the unknown.

Ending a marriage does not have to be a frightening prospect. Individuals can take the time to help themselves handle the changes that often come along after divorce and allow themselves to heal from the situation. For example, people may be better able to move on and find more satisfaction in life after divorce if they take responsibility for the mistakes they made and find ways to change for the better.

It could also be helpful to avoid isolation after ending a marriage. It is often tempting to feel alone and unwanted after such an event, but reaching out to old friends and making new ones can help maintain important social connections. It could also allow parties to understand that they are capable of building fulfilling relationships.

It is certainly difficult to take that first step toward a new chapter in life, and hesitating is normal. However, fear of the unknown could hold Utah residents back from changing their lives for the better. Rather than letting such an idea get the better of them, individuals considering divorce may wish to gain information about the legal process, their rights and available options for effectively making such a major change.

  • Brian attended mediation with us today and he was a rockstar. He was very knowledgeable and thorough. I don't know what we would have done without his well-informed counsel and the way he stood up for us. He maintained a calm and authoritative demeanor, even in the presence of the 4 other attorneys on the other "sides". We will be recommending him to anyone who needs a family law attorney, and we'll be choosing him if we ever need one again! Read more...
