Charges for drunk driving could come about for many reasons. Even if a vehicle is sitting still or a person is not driving a vehicle meant for the roadways, authorities could still charge a person with DUI. In this type of situation, creating a defense against allegations often proves vital.

One man in Utah will undoubtedly be considering his criminal defense options after recently being taken into custody. Reports stated that the man was driving an off-road vehicle with his 26-year-old son and another individual riding as passengers. The man reportedly lost control of the vehicle while navigating a corner, and as a result, the vehicle overturned. At least one person became stuck under the vehicle as a result of the incident.

Emergency crews were called to the scene, and a medical helicopter took the son to a hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. Police suspected that alcohol played a role in the incident, and as a result, the 51-year-old man was taken into custody on charges of DUI with serious bodily injury. It was not mentioned whether any breath test results or other information contributed to the officer’s suspicions of intoxication.

Operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol can have serious effects. Because the man involved in this Utah incident certainly wants to work toward the best outcomes possible for his case, he may find it useful to gain information relating to his defense options.
